Um, another definition for phalanx is a multicannon usualy mounted on ships with 6-8 barrels of 30-40mm. They're generaly used for antimissile, and anti air. Just thought you might wanna know.
Oh, and the soldier formation phalanx, is actualy where they form a square, and hold their shields out at all sides and had pikes deployed in front, this was typicaly used if there were archers, it was also effective against cavealry.
And the finger joint stuff, that's not phalanx, it's phalanges.

Good Story. Only problem I see with it is it would take X(Robin) about 3.5 seconds to get out of those shackles. Why do I say this, you ask? Because if there are two things X happens to be it's this: a master escape artist and a genius at contingency plans. There is almost nothing he can't think his way out of, and the predicament you put him in, he could easily get out of. If you wish to reply, email me.

(throws back head and laughs) Oh he so had that coming! I really loved your ending- I usually don't like F/F/M, but this was a very good one. I do have one critique to make- at one point you refer to X's doowacky as a phalanx- ...phalanx means finger or toe bone, or a group of soldiers that attack in tight formation...yes I looked that up...yes I'm weird that way. Only complaint. (laughs again) Damn that was a good ending!
