Betty would call Reggie to come over, for any reason she could make up, and he would stop whatever it was he was doing and come spend time with her.

She would do this after hearing 10 voice mails messages from Jason, either begging, cajoling, or threatening her.

Or if she saw him lurking  about near her home,  her car or at school.

Once Reggie was in the middle of a heavy necking session  with some lucky chick when Betty called.

“Hi, Reg, are you busy? I need help studying for the geometry exam. Come over as soon as you can.  I’m making chocolate chip cookies. ”

Betty had seen Jason’s car pass her block a few times.

“Uhh, sure babe. Be there in 30 minutes”

The unlucky girl, Shirley was left hanging, her nipples had hardened with desire, knowing the pleasure she would get in just a few more minutes…

 Reggie got Betty’s call,  left, actually he was running. The girl, Shirley was pissed off.

She was done with Mantle.

Reggie didn’t care. Betty needed him. There was always other girls.

  Betty still didn’t tell anyone about Jason and how crazy he was acting.

 She was  so very afraid of Jason Blossom.

 Betty would date other guys, like Adam, Archie, a new kid Jerry, and a few she met at the mall.

 If Jason saw them, he picked a fight with the guy, and would try to drag Betty off.

She managed to get away from him in the confusion the fights caused.

How terrifying this was.

Betty soon stopped dating anyone but Reggie.

 The only guy Jason never tried to fight was Reggie Mantle.

 Reggie was too crazy for Jason to take on.

Reggie would have beaten his ass, badly. Jason knew that.

 Reggie planned to take Betty out dancing at the teen disco after school on Friday. .

Betty had  begged off .

 ‘What if Jason saw them?’ she thought.

 Betty knew Jason was always looking for her.

 She spent so much of her time avoiding him she really was exhausted.

“Look Reggie I’m tired, can you take a rain check?”

“Sorry babe, no can do.  I bought a new outfit and told everyone we’d be there”. What color are you wearing? I will have my shirt match your dress” 

Reggie tried joking her out of her mood.  “As long as it’s not red, pink or yellow. C’mon Babe, what’s the matter?”  

He noticed she seemed quiet and sad. Not herself.

 “Nothing,  Reg, just tired. You know finals and graduating. The stress of waiting to see if I get the scholarship to Harvard. ”

“ Come on Babe, you can’t sit around waiting. I know you’ll get into any school you choose. Let’s dance! We are graduating. Let’s party!”

“OK Reggie, I’ll be ready. Pick me up at 8”

Reggie  was so hard to resist.

Reggie did notice that Betty was not seeing Jason.

 Reggie didn’t ask Betty what happened. He was just  so happy she dumped that creep.

Reggie was only too happy spend as much time with Betty as he could.
