The New Apprentice

Slade sat in the dark, staring at a screen that replayed the battle he witnessed over and over. He would stop when Raven was about to attack Dr. Light and study her, then resuming the action.

He tilted his head to the side and noticed how Beast Boy touched her. Little things, the way he grabbed her shoulder, the flick of his thumb on her cloak. A small caress of their hands. He leaned back and brought his finger tips together, he had found a way to get to Raven.

“BB stop.” She said, sitting on the couch as he leaned onto her.

“C’mon Raven, we’ve been together how long? And you still won’t let me hold your hand.”

Raven looked up from her book and sighed, placing her hand on the couch. BB smiled wide and grasped onto her hand. She went back to her book and occasionally looked over, seeing him stare at her.

“What?” She asked, fairly annoyed.

“Nothin’ just think you’re cute when you’re mad.”

“Alright.” She said turning back to her book.

BB continued to stare at her for a bit before looking down at her hand and stroking it with his thumb. Raven placed her book down and looked at him with a raised eyebrow.

He leaned in, she leaned in, they were inches from each other when….the alarm went off.

Raven was up and ready to meet the other Titans before BB could even notice the noise. He grumbled and got up moving next to Raven, his hand brushing hers. She pulled it away once Robin entered.

“There’s a problem at the chemical factory.” He said thumbing behind him. “Let’s go.”

Raven nodded and moved after Robin, BB held onto her arm and she stopped looking at him.

“Raven, don’t you think it’s time we…”

She grabbed him by the collar and kissed him, Starfire and Cyborg passed stopping their mouths gaping open. Raven pulled away from BB and looked at him.

“Happy?” She asked, he nodded profusely.

She turned and looked at Starfire and Cyborg who chuckled and scratched their heads, running out of the tower as fast as they could.

The Titans reached the chemical factory, looking around and seeing no danger.

“Robin are you sure about this?” Raven asked, walking up to his side.

“We got the call, I don’t understand.”

He took out his communicator and shook it, shaking his head.

“I gave you the call.”

The Titans looked upwards as Slade appeared from the shadows, his arms crossed.

“Slade!” Robin yelled, pulling his staff out.

The other Titans positioned themselves, ready for any attack.

“I’m here for only one person.” Slade said, looking at Raven.

“I’m not going anywhere.” Robin replied with a snort.

“Why do you think everything is about you?” He asked, jumping down landing with a giant thud.

Robin looked around, his eyes settling on Starfire.

“Wrong again.” Slade said, noting how he looked at the alien.

Robin growled and lunged towards him, throwing him a punch. Slade stood perfectly still and grabbed his hand, bending his arm. Robin yelled in pain as Slade threw him to the side.

“I’ve been watching for so long.” He said, walking to the other Titans, his eyes on Raven.

BB moved in front and turned into a lion, roaring at him. Slade grabbed him by the mouth and threw him at the oncoming Starfire. Cyborg yelled and jumped up, firing his cannon at him. He dodged the cannon and jumped towards him, kicking him in the chest making him hit the ground hard.

Raven flew up and picked up metal from around the factory, hurling it at him. Slade jumped up and onto each piece getting closer to Raven until he was able to tackle her, sending her crashing to the ground.

“You.” He breathed, leaning in.

Raven blasted him off of her and stood, dusting herself off a little. BB rammed into him as he became a goat. Starfire punched him in the face, sending him spinning. Robin jumped up and hit him with his staff, sending him to the ground. Cyborg walked up and loaded it, pointing it at Slade.

“Game over.”

“Is it?’ He asked moving upward, holding BB in his grasp.

The Titans gasped and each took a step back. Slade grinned under his mask and walked back slowly holding onto BB with just strength that the green guy was having trouble breathing.

“What do you want Slade?” Robin growled, his fists clenching.

“Raven.” He simply replied, nodding to her.

The other Titans looked at her and then back at him.

“There’s no way you’re getting her.” Robin spat at him.

Slade chuckled and twisted his arm a little, making BB choke.

“I will get what I want.”

Robin yelled and jumped towards Slade but was pulled back by Raven. He blinked several times at her.

“Let him go and I’m yours.” She said loudly, her eyes fading from the white glow.

Slade extended one hand and nodded to her.

“Take my hand.” He said, fingering her to come to him.

Raven looked at the other Titans who urged her to stay. She slowly walked to him, looking at her BB. Her hand lightly touched his, he grabbed onto her and pulled her to him, throwing BB over to the Titans.

“You won’t get away with taking her!” Robin snarled as Starfire attended BB.

“Won’t I?” He asked, disappearing with Raven clutched to his chest.

“We have…*cough*…to get her back!” BB said between breaths, holding onto his throat.

“We will BB…we will.” Robin said, helping BB up, wrapping an arm around his back.

“Where ever Slade has taken Raven…we’ll find her…and he’ll pay.” Robin reassured BB as they slowly made it out.
