Betty was  very self conscious about the admiring stares she was getting, but tried as best she could to ignore them.  But it made her feel good. She decided she wanted the attention Veronica always demanded, and received.

Betty was in geometry class, looking over notes, as they were having a test today.

" Hey Betty, you look very lovely today. Want to go out later, to a movie and dinner?"

This was Jason Blossom. Twin brother to Cheryl Blossom, who Betty greatly disliked.

Betty didn't want to "hate' anyone. Cheryl was worst than Veronica when it came to the boys. She was a female on the prowl. No girl’s boyfriend was safe, or off limits to Cheryl Blossom. And the guys could not resist her charms

Archie seemed to be Cheryl's number two target. Reggie was the first. No, So be it.  OK, so Betty did hate her!

" Umm , I have to study Jason. Finals are coming up. I want no problems graduating "  

Betty never said more than a few words to Jason. But she did notice he would sneak glances at her when he thought she wasn't looking. She didn't know what to think about that.

“Come on Betty. Give a guy a break. Just dinner and a movie. You can study after. Please?” Jason begged her, smiling a winning smile. He really was a great looking guy.

Jason Blossom was another bad boy around Riverdale high. He was the red headed version of Reggie Mantle, but not quite as smooth or nice.

“OK Jason. I pick the movie, OK?”

“Sure Betty, Pick you up at 7” Jason was in seventh heaven.

Jason had deep red hair, blue eyes. He was arrogant and  very snobbish. The Blossom family was much more wealthier than Reggie’s,but probably rivaling the Lodge's fortune. Jason wasn't as popular as Reggie, or Cheryl. Girls flocked to him because of his money and good looks, and he knew this. He played baseball and basketball, but he was not musical or artistic like Reggie. He wasn't seen with as many girls as Mr Mantle was.

Jason was just as much of a jerk as Reggie though Reggie was a loveable jerk. Jason was not.

Betty admitted to herself she didn’t feel so safe with Jason either.

But Jason had a soft spot for Betty Cooper that no one but his twin knew about. No one knew the depth of his feelings for Betty. No one.

 As bitchy as Cheryl is, she loves her twin. She would keep his secret. She did hate goody two shoes girls like Betty Cooper though. She felt they looked down on her.

Reggie  had waited around the front of the school for Betty. He was very curious about her new looks. Every day she looked different, but super hot, since she broke up with Andrews.

Reggie sensed danger from the guys, especially Jason Blossom.

Reggie also noticed Jason Blossom hanging around after school, which wasn't like him.

Jason  never wanted to be seen in front of Riverdale High. It was so much beneath him to come to this school.

He usually ran to his sleek convertible and dashed home as soon as the last bell rang.

"Hey Jay, what's  up?" Reggie called

Jason just said, " A lot Mantle"

Reggie didn't get it, shrugged and waited for Betty.

Betty emerged with her friends Ethel Muggs  and Nancy Woods. They were so happy she  finally gave up on her Archie obsession.

“Hey Bets”, Reggie started to call, but before you know it, Jason dashed up to Betty and put his arm around her shoulder.

“What the fuck?" Reggie said out loud when he saw this. He knew trouble was brewing!

 Reggie never would have guessed that Jason had an interest in Betty. She was way out of his league. Betty was too good for any guy in Riverdale, Reggie included himself in this group.

Still, Reggie walked up to them

 Hey Bets, I was going invite you to go to Pop's after school”, he said ignoring Jason

 “Sorry Reggie, Jason asked me out tonight. We can go another time, OK?”

 Then they walked off, Jason turning his head to smirk at Reggie

‘That SOB just tried to cock block me,’ Jason thought. He pulled Betty closer.

 To Reggie, it looked she didn't even try to pull away.

 Why should I care anyway? Betty doesn’t look like she needs or wants my help with Blossom.'

 Reggie suddenly saw two very expensively  manicured hands slide around his waist-Cheryl, oh well, he had other fish to fry. He pulled her to him for a quick, hot kiss, and they left school together.
