Baiting The Bat Trap
Chapter Three: Baiting The Bat Trap
As her girls worked the Boy Wonder into a sexual frenzy, Domina retired reclined in a luxurious armchair purring with satisfaction as she read the front page of the Gotham Evening Gazette.
Just as she'd demanded, her tame reporter had carried out his instructions to the letter. Emblazoned across the front page was the headline: Robin Wows The Girls. Underneath was a picture of the young crimefighter addressing the St Suprema's College girls accompanied by a breathless report (dictated, naturally, by Domina herself) describing the events of the momentous night.
Domina's pretty mouth creased into a smile as she took in the quotes attributed to Robin's rapt audience: Natasha, 17, said: "He's such a dreamboat. It's just a shame we can't persuade him to stay the night!"
And 18-year-old Miranda added: "That boy is sex on legs. So clever - and so, so hunky. I'm glad he's not taken yet!"
Domina finished the piece and tossed the paper on the table in front of her before lifting the wine glass on the arm of the chair and taking a long, slow drink. Not long now, she thought. Not long at all. _____________________________
Across town - just as Domina had planned and hoped for - Robin's partner and mentor was stood almost shaking with anger as he stared incredulously at the same front page of the Gazette. Batman had neither seen nor heard from the Boy Wonder for more than 24 hours - and now it was clear why.The arrogant young crimefighter had chosen to defy his older, wiser partner - and what's more he'd done it by preening and posing in front of a gang of teenage girls. Even worse he'd done it in front of a reporter!
No wonder he was too scared to show his face. Batman flung the newspaper angrily to the ground and punched his right fist into the palm of his left hand.
"It's time for some explanations," he muttered as he strode over to the Batmobile and climbed aboard - gunning the engine before launching the turbo-charged machine from his lair and toward the imposing grounds and palatial buildings of St Suprema's College some five miles away.
