Let's Make a Deal

 It was finally the week of the prom and it was hectic. 

There were final exams and all kind of senior class activities going on.

The senior field trip was a picnic at the beach. They all had a blast. No fighting that day. 

Moose warned Archie.

Reggie and Betty went off alone, having their own private picnic. Archie was angry all day, wondering what they were doing.

Prom ....

The girls were busy getting their  hair and nails done, shopping for the "perfect" dress, shoes and accessories.

Every one wanted to wow their guys.

Betty  had thoughts of  Archie. She hoped after prom Archie will tell her he loved her not Ronnie and maybe they would get married after college.

But  to Betty  her thoughts seemed more like a habit than something she really wanted.

Archie called more often  but she was never home to answer.  

Reggie took up all Betty's time They had not kissed since the first day of going steady, but it seemed they were closer than ever. Reggie knew what she was thinking and he was always there when she needed him.

She didn’t want for anything. He always treated her like a queen.

But Reggie wouldn’t kiss her, or hold her too close. Damn him!

They spent as much time as they could together.  She looked forward to being with him. Both Reggie and Betty did not date anyone else.

Reggie had thoughts too. He wanted Betty to love him not Archie.

 Reggie  and Betty spent as much time together as possible supposedly, to get Archie and Ronnie jealous.

 Betty  really had no time to think about Archie. She and Reggie went bowling, to the park on picnics, swimming, dancing, listen to music, Reggie played his guitar for her , they went to the movies, the opera (Reggie hated, Betty loved it) to the ballet, to Pop Tate's, double dating with Jug and Ethel(!) Chuck and Nancy, did homework together, or just talked on the phone when they couldn’t be together.

 You name it they did it. (Not that. Keep your mind out the gutter folks!) They held hands when Ronnie or Archie was around. They also held hands when no one around.

 They had to act like a couple to make Archie and Ronnie jealous, right?

They had to remember the goal was to get Ronnie and Archie to want them, right?

Why does Betty have to keep reminding herself of the deal? What was the deal again?

 Scheme number 20   just backfired as Archie got detention for getting caught by Mr. Weatherbee . Archie was drawing pictures of the principal naked on the blackboard in Math class, in  hopes of pinning it on Reggie.  Again thanks to Jughead’s spies, or Jughead himself.

 (The other 18 schemes all failed too, but these two never give up)

 “I am running out of ideas Ronnie” Archie told Veronica.

 “We will think of something”. Ronnie told him. She was getting tired of thinking about Reggie being with Betty.

 When Veronica and Archie entered Pop’s, one night Archie simply started swinging at Reggie when he got close enough to hit his fucking face!

 It really drove Archie wild when he saw them together!

They both got thrown out of Pop’s.

 At least Reggie couldn’t hang here for a while Archie smirked. He was disappointed when Betty didn’t immediately come to his aide, comforting him. She seemed to take her time walking towards him, looking angry, too

 ‘Hey, what’s with this shit?’he thought.

 Chuck and Jug pulled had them apart when they were outside  as the fight  had continued after Pop threw them out.

 Reggie had  walked off, so Betty wouldn’t get more upset. He had  expected her to be right behind him. She wasn’t.

 Reggie became  livid when he saw Betty go to Archie.

Reggie turned and  just kept walking towards his car.

 “Archie what is going on?” Betty asked him.

 “I don't want you with that guy Bets. He is no good. He goes out with others behind your back.  (this was a lie, but all is fair in love and war, right?). That creep won't allow anyone near you."  Oh scheme 21?

 Betty was surprised at the sick feeling at the pit of her stomach, also wondered at it, but could not let Archie see this. She also suddenly remembered it couldn’t be true.

 “So what if Reggie does? That's how boyfriends act. They hate guys moving in on their girls". You keep getting in his face", she said.

 “Hey, . I just hate to see you hurt Betty”

 “Really Archie-but so far it has only been you that has hurt me. I don’t know what time Reggie has to cheat  because he is always  with me , and the nights he isn’t we are on the phone. So stop lying and trying to get me mad at Reggie. At least he doesn’t stand me up, or uses me to fix his car! “ she said.

 Archie was shocked to hear Reggie being with Betty so much. Was Mantle in love with his Betty?  Was Betty in love with the Rat?

"And stop fighting with him, Archie! Leave Reggie to me!.” She demanded-

"Reg  is my business, not yours!” She then ran after Reggie.

 Jughead was there, again with Ethel. It seems Ethel is helping Jug spy on the rat and Betty.  

 (Sometimes it would be  Nancy and  Dilton.) Both Ethel and Jug gave each other meaningful looks.

 Was Reggie and Betty in love? They would have to see. Jughead and Ethel will get to the bottom of it.

Ethel isn’t so bad, Jug thought. Ethel likes to eat like him and not gain weight. She always springs for snacks when he can’t. She also laughs at his little jokes. And Jelly Bean likes her. What more can a guy ask for?

 Don’t look at Jughead as a snitch. He feels Archie had hurt Betty enough and Betty deserves someone who will treat her right.

Reggie seems a lot more mature this year. Reggie is playing less pranks  because Betty hates them. She is guilty of laughing at a few of them though.

 “Hey Reg, wait up!” Betty called to Reggie..

Reggie stopped and turned, eyes burning as he looked at her. Were those unshed tears?

“Oh, so, you finally remembered me! You went to him first!". Reggie growled this, trying not to choke on the words.

 “Reggie, I wanted him to stop fighting with you! I don’t care if he is hurt or not”, she said

 “Really? Show me Bets” God how he needed her!

 Betty flew into his arms. She never felt so safe as she felt after he took her in his arms.  

She lifted her lips, pulling his face down to her lips, and she kissed him.

Her fingers wrapped themselves in his thick black hair.  He could not pull away.

Not, this time. She would not allow it.

Reggie lost  his  control for a few moments.

Betty rubbed against him, feeling his erection.

'Wow', she thought, "This is what those bitches have been after. I never felt, anything, like this before'

 Reggie  just couldn’t seem to stop her.

 Reggie actually had no strength to stop her . He really needed her so badly at that moment..

 Archie saw this embrace and had to be restrained by Jug and Chuck, again.

 “Archie, let it go!!!” they both yelled at him.

Archie wrenched his arm away and stormed off, going  to Ronnie’s house.

 “How did it go ,Lover?” Ronnie purred.

 “ I failed. I left them kissing!” Archie whined this last sentence.

 Ronnie just shook her head.

 Ronnie felt lost because Reggie did not call her, Reggie did not answer her calls, and Reggie did not try to date her. Reggie seemed like he only had eyes for Betty.

What is going on here? She was going to find out. Who could resist HER!.We will see about that this on prom night’.

Veronica  would make sure Reggie was at her beck and call again. She needed him to give her that thrill she needed when she tired of Archie’s sweetness.

 “We have to come up with something at the  prom then”

Ronnie pulled Archie close and they kissed.
