The Rock

Jason always  acted like the perfect gentleman. He let Betty pick the movie, hoping she could stay away the girl flick he was sure she would pick.

But Betty took pity on him and chose a horror movie, that actually had them laughing through the movie. God it was so  phony.

People just shook their heads at them. One man threatened to call the usher if they didn't shut up. He thought they were high.

Jason kept his arm around Betty throughout the movie. She didn’t push him away this time, either.

 After the movie Jason wanted to take her to eat.

"Please not to a fancy restaurant, OK?. I’m not dressed for it”

“You look good enough to go anywhere Betty”, Jason said, and he meant it.

Betty had changed from her dress to a short jean skirt, a wide gold belt and a snug buttoned down blouse. Both items were made by her and looked very appealing on her.

 Jason did as she asked, they went to Pop's. He usually doesn't go there, but anything for Betty....

They entered Pop's and caused a sensation.

 Jason Blossom never came there. And he was with Betty?

Archie and Veronica was there, all cozy in a booth  and just as shocked as well as everyone else.

 Reggie was there with a girl named Sandy-she had platinum blond hair, dyed. And she put out. This was after his little tryst this Cheryl. Some times  he had as many as three dates, at three different times In one night  

Not like when Archie scheduled his dates at the same time. What a dork Andrews is!

Reggie saw them and again was shocked, first at the site of how beautiful Betty looked, and that she was with Jason.

Reggie frowned at the sight of them and Betty noted this.

Betty  decided to ignore Reggie. He’s been getting on her nerves a lot lately. She was sick of him and his women. There was just too many of them. Was he trying for the Guinness Book of Records for womanizing? 

Betty was thinking. ‘Look at him with that bleached blond Sandy. Betty had seen him with Cheryl earlier. What a jerk!” She shook her head in exasperation at Reggie.

Betty waved to Archie and Ronnie. She and Jason went to a booth on the other side of the parlor.

 Archie and  Veronica whispered to each other, "Wow, Betty's out with Jason Blossom!"

Archie was actually jealous, but he wouldn't dare say anything because he knew Betty was mad and what a wildcat she was when angry. He had to wash his hair 4 times before that sundae came out of his hair. Plus quiet as he kept it, he heeded Reggie’s warning to stay away from Bets..

 Archie knew he did Betty wrong, but he missed her friendship. He just wanted them to be friends again. Never mind that his car needed  repairs…

 Jason sat next to Betty in the booth, instead of across from her, whispering in her ear.

She was smiling widely at whatever it was he was saying.

When Reggie glanced over and saw this, he could not help himself, he just got up and went over to them.

‘Oh,Oh ‘ the crowd whispered. ‘Will there be a fight tonight?'

Reggie was always fighting with  someone-Moose, Archie, David, George, now Jason? ‘This was great!’ Everyone was watching, trying not to be obvious about it. Listening to every word they said…

 When Reggie arrived at the  booth , Jason had stopped whatever shit he was saying to Betty and looked at Reggie with daggers in his eyes.

 Jason didn't move his arm or his body away from Betty, which was much too close as far as Reggie was concerned.

 "What do you want Mantle!?" he growled

"Hey Betty, I just wanted to ask you for your help studying for the Earth  Science final. Can we do it tomorrow ?” Reggie pointedly ignored Jason.

Betty saw the  troubled look in Reggie's eyes. She took that for worrying about passing science.

“Of course we can study. Come over when you are ready."

 Betty was always ready to help someone in need.

 “Thanks Bets, see you tomorrow afternoon, by 1 pm OK?”

“Sure Reg. You bring the snacks”  She planned on surprising him with some fresh baked chocolate chip cookies. He loved her cooking. Betty was a great cook.

With a kiss to her hand, Reggie left them. He couldn’t wait for tomorrow. He loved the look on Blossom’s face.

Betty watched Reggie as he walked away.  He had a very distinctive walk. Like a cross between a panther and a ballet dancer.

 And he had Very sexy body too. Betty never noticed this before.

Jason was pissed. Betty should of  asked him if she could study with Reggie.

 “Hey Betty I don’t like that guy. Maybe I should join you two”

“No Jason. My parents don’t know you yet. What is your problem with Reggie?”

 “He is so full of shit. Someone needs to bring him down a peg or two”

 “Hey Jason we’re friends. I’m not his type. He just looks out for me” she said.

 Reggie had always been there to take her mind off Archie. Plus he never lied to her.

 Though truth can be  painful. Like when he told her Archie didn’t love her. That was true, but it hurt just the same

 “I’m like a sister to him Jason. I’m not his type” She continued to tell him.

Jason snorted at that.

 “ Hey Betty, I’m sick of talking about Mantle. Now where were we...?..”

Jason was extremely jealous of  Reggie’s relationship with Betty. They were just too comfortable with each other for his taste. Jason wanted her to be like that with him. ‘But how can she be getting to know him  if Mantle was around all the time?’

Jason  squeezed  Betty’s  hand and shoulder as he talked, a little too hard, she thought. He stopped squeezing when she started flinching

Jason scared her for some reason. He seemed so intense, and she knew he was interested.

She needed that right now. She still had the symptoms Archie withdrawal. Sometimes she was tempted to call him back. But she had to stop. Reggie and Jason are keeping her very busy.

 Jason kept giving  Reggie the evil eye, while deep in his conversation with Betty.

 Reggie just looked at Jason, smirking and getting back to his date, who was really angry that Reggie even went over to Betty and Jason in the first place.

"Come on lover, let's blow this joint. I want to blow you" Sandy whispered in his ear when he returned

Off he went with Sandy, waving at his friends as he left. And she did. Very well.
