Rememberance

A/N: Chapter five! :) Thanks to everyone who reviewed. Please, keep it up!

Quite a few people tried to guess what was going to happen. Many thought I was going Rae/Star, which, I can assure you, I am not. Vinnie and troy mentioned something about Warp and the future, which is an interesting thought, one I hadn't considered, but not correct. NiGHTS was correct, but not exactly what I had in mind. Verdandi, however, is incredibly close with her guess, and is our little winner! Kudos to you, Verdandi! :)

Now, with no further ado, I present...

Hope

Chapter 5

As Raven descended the staircase, she reflected back on everything Robin had said. Again, when she reached the part about Starfire, a faint niggling feeling squirmed at the edges of her mind.

Why do I feel like I should remember something here? Raven asked herself silently. Coming up blank, Raven tried to shove the thought out of her mind, only to have it assault her once again.

What is going on here? Raven wondered. Am I going nuts or something?

At this, Raven felt a distinct pushing feeling on the inside of her skull, which finally she recognized as her emotions trying to contact her.

All right! Raven thought crossly, as she rubbed her temples with her fingertips, trying to eliminate the beginnings of a migraine. I'm coming, already!

Raven stalked down to her room, and opened the door. Stupid emotions shouldn't even be able to contact me, she thought exasperatedly. No one else's emotions can just let them know they want to talk.

Raven sighed, digging around in her drawer and withdrawing her hand mirror.

"This had better be good," Raven muttered as she was swept up in a swirling black and red vortex for the second time that day.

This time, when Raven was roughly deposited onto the ground, she realized that not only Knowledge was waiting for her, but all of her emotions were as well.

After getting to her feet, Raven demanded, "Now, what was so important that you simply had to tell me?"

The emotions all looked at one another, exchanging secretive glances. Raven scowled at them.

"Well?" she demanded, glaring at each one in turn. "Don't tell me you dragged me back here just to play games with me!"

"Hope's back!" Happy burst out joyously. "She says there's a chance we can restore Terra!"

"What?" Raven asked incredulously. "Are you serious?" Hope was an emotion that was scarcely seen in Raven's mind, as she rarely had any hope at all.

"Yes!" Happy said, beaming.

"She's telling the truth," Knowledge said, stepping forward. "Hope is here. She wants to speak to you."

"Where is she?" Raven asked urgently.

"Over there," several emotions chorused, as they moved and pointed towards a dead tree, that had a figure clothed in white in its branches.

"Thanks," Raven said quickly, before rushing over to the tree.

Raven could not believe her luck. Hope, like Rage, was different from her other emotions, in the fact that when that emotion was strong, it was represented by something other than a reflection of herself. When Rage was strong, she became an imitation of Trigon, Raven's fierce demon father. When Hope was strong, however, a much kinder and gentler figure appeared. Hope would resemble Arella, Raven's human mother.

Please, Raven thought as she ran towards the tree.

Raven's heart fell, however, when the figure turned in the tree, and she saw it was not her mother clothed in white, but another reflection of herself.

"Do not despair, Raven," Hope said, her voice melodious. "With my help, your hope will grow, and you might see your mother once again."

Raven levitated herself up into the tree, and sat herself down next to her counterpart.

"You rarely show up here," Raven said emphatically. "Why are you here? I cannot see any hope of ever getting Terra back."

"Yet there must be some hope in this dire situation, or else I would not be here," Hope said simply. Raven looked at Hope blankly, needed a clue.

"You feel as if you should remember something, do you not?" Hope asked Raven.

"Yes," Raven admitted. "All I can remember is it has something to do with Starfire and me in my room…"

"And?" Hope prompted.

"I don't know! I can't remember!" Raven snapped, irritated. "Help me out here! Give me a hint!"

"You know everything you need to put this puzzle together, Raven," Hope remarked. "All you need to do is remember the pieces."

Raven raised an eyebrow at her, giving her a look that clearly expressed her opinion of what she thought of Hope's flowery tongue.

"What do you and Starfire do in your room?" Hope asked simply, before leaning back against a large branch, letting Raven dwell on that.

What do Starfire and I do in my room? Raven wondered. Some hope must lie in the answer...

"Well, sometimes we talk about her and Robin," Raven began, listing all her activities with her friend. "Sometimes we play scrabble to improve her vocabulary, sometimes we meditate, sometimes we talk about what we'd like out of life, sometimes we contact-" Raven broke off, realization dawning on her face.

"Sometimes we contact the dead!" she breathed. "I taught Starfire how to contact the spirit world! I've known how to do that for years! I haven't put it together until now! I could contact Terra!"

Hope beamed. "You see? There is always hope, no matter how desperate the situation may seem."

"I can contact Terra!" Raven said again, her mind racing to formulate a plan. "I'll do that as soon as I leave! I can talk to her again, and see how she's doing! Maybe she'll have some idea of how to restore her! Even if she doesn't, it'd be great to just be able to talk to her again! I can't believe this! I can contact Terra!"

"Then why are you still here?" Hope asked gently. "Go. Talk to Terra. You've missed her so much."

Raven, for the first time in a very long time, smiled.

"I will," she declared. "Thanks a million, Hope."

With that, Raven raced off down the platform, heading to the portal to exit her mind, eager to contact her love.

Hope smiled after her, glad that Raven had found hope and inspiration once more.

Arella/Hope will become important later, so just keep that in mind...

NiGHTS - It's always bugged me when people have Star's alien aspects come into play like that as well. There's much better ways to go about writing a yuri. I'm glad your faith has been restored in me! Thanks! :)

Vinnie - When are you ever not dense? :P lol just kidding. I'm not going Rae/Star on you, rest assured. That's your job, isn't it? :P

nobody-noone - Thanks for reviewing!

KudoKen - Thanks for your kind words :) They really cheered me up. I'm glad someone likes my writing. :) Thanks again.

Verdandi - Well done with your guess! You just went a little too far. Thanks for reviewing!

troy - Thanks for reviewing! :)

Again, everyone, please review!
