 Later that night Reggie called Betty to explain about earlier..

“Since I have to study for the science final. It would be fun studying with you" he said, voice confident she will agree. He knew she had fun with him.

 "Oh, and I want to pencil myself in for the next 10 Saturdays and the Prom, before Jason gets to you. Just be careful with him Bets. He’s trouble” Yes he had to go there

 "Oh, and you're not Mantle?” She huffed.  “I can take care of myself.  OK, Reggie, we can study for the Earth Science final. I already  have a date with Jason for tomorrow night though, but I will give you 5 Saturdays after that and I will  go to the Prom with you"

Reggie was a little put out that she didn't jump at the chance to be dating him so exclusively, but it will mean he has to work harder for her. Reggie didn't want Jason to hurt Betty.

Jason could hurt her worse than that other redheaded  meathead ever could.

 There were a lot of nasty rumors about Jason. He was known to be violent and had Reggie heard that he had messed up a couple of girl’s faces. Though he’s hurt no one in Riverdale . yet.

 Jason is dangerous. Reggie had to keep an eye on her, without Betty getting mad at him. Betty was like a sister to him.

 They talked a little while longer, Reggie teasing her, and trying to find out where she was going with Jason. She didn't say. They hung up.

 He had to get Cheryl to find out. Maybe a double date?

He called Cheryl.

 Betty was loving this. Two hot guys wanting her .

 Eat your heart out Archie Andrews! And he was.

 Reggie and Jason were very good for her confidence. Betty was always a very modest girl, who has always felt lacking in the shadow of her BFF Veronica Lodge.

They have not been too close lately though, for many reasons.

Veronica had the nerve to be jealous of the attention Betty was getting. Veronica felt she was the only one the boys should be after. How selfish she could be.

Betty was having too much fun to care. Veronica could have Archie. They deserved each other.
