The Dove Captured the Wolf

 Senior year at State U

The Riverdale gang were all planning to separate and go their separate ways.

Chuck Clayton and Nancy Woods both planned to stay in Riverdale after graduation. They would of course, get married.

 Chuck will work with Ricky Mantle at the Riverdale Newspaper, writing and drawing  comic strip stories.

 Moose  Mason and Midge Klump was planning on getting married in a year.

Moose was drafted by the NFL to play in Tampa Florida and Midge was going to be a homemaker.

Ethel Muggs became a fashion model and went to Europe after getting engaged to Jughead.

They  planned to marry  after Jughead finished college. Jughead was going to be a chef.

Betty was  to go to Columbia University, Reggie to Harvard. Both  were studying  journalism.

Reggie became very quiet, cold to those who knew him. He dated girls like he did before his night with Betty. They

passed each other many times, never speaking or acknowledging each other. Both could not get that wild night  out of their

minds. 

Three month later Betty became ill. She couldn’t keep food down, and seemed to cry for no reason. She also felt very tired.

When she wasn’t sick to her stomach, she became so hungry she could eat a whole cow. Her period just seemed to stop.

What was wrong with her? 

 Betty went to see the doctor.

Diagnosis: " Well Miss Smith, . You are pregnant "  Dr Wright told her .

Oh Lord! She was Pregnant!     'I'm knocked up",  ‘I’m pregnant’ , ’ I’m going to have a baby’ or

‘I’m with child’ 

Betty  kept saying it over and over, and it still caused her shock, no matter how she said it.

 'Damn that Reggie. He really left me something to remember him by!'

Neither she or Reggie used any birth control that wild night .Neither of them had  even thought of it.

Betty  had made sure they did not cross paths. She could not face him now.. She definitely couldn’t tell him about

the baby. What was she to do? She was terrified about the choices she had to make. What now? 

Reggie  had respected her wishes and left her alone. He won’t talk to her now. When they do cross paths, he gives

her the cut direct. She refused to acknowledge she even knew him.

 Reggie first had tried calling her and even came over, but Betty was never home. Sge did not want his pity.

The last thing she heard was that he was dating a coed who majored in theater arts.  

 How she cried when she heard that. It was definitely too late for them now.
