True colors shining through
“Betty, I don’t want you going out with Mantle! I keep telling you he wants you! Stop dissing me by continuing to go out with him!” Jason was very angry, driving at high speeds as he spoke
“I told you Reggie is my friend Jason. Stop telling me who I can be with.! This is so tired . I am not your girl, yet. And I won’t ever be if this is how you are going to act!” Betty was screaming at him. How dare he! This is the last time she will date Jason Blossom. Betty was fuming. Jason then stopped the car and slapped her face twice, and shaking her as hard as he could, then slapping her again and again. When Betty screamed in pain, and began crying, Jason came to himself, and was immediately sorry. “Oh God babe..” he began … “Don’t touch me and don’t call me babe!” Reggie was the only one who could call her that! No one else! “Please take me home!!” Betty was crying in shock and pain. No one had ever struck her in her life before. She was terrified of him. Betty hoped there were no marks. Her dad would kill Jason. And so would Reggie. “Not until you tell me you forgive me.” Jason said, reaching to pull her close. Betty quickly said, “ I forgive you Jay”, and suffered a deep kiss from him, which totally repulsed her. Anything to get away from him. Jason dropped her off, and tried again to hold and kiss her. Betty allowed it and hurried inside her home. She went inside. Breathing a long sigh of relief. Betty couldn’t believe he hit her! She ran to the bathroom where she vomited, and couldn’t stop shaking. She was so done with him. Jason called Betty that night and over a dozen times a day since that night. He even came to her house, several times. She told her parents she broke up with him. They could see Jason had a hard time taking 'No' for an answer. They never let Jason see Betty. They also asked him to stop calling. Betty made sure she wasn’t home. Jason just sent more flowers and gift which she refused to accept. Sometimes, Betty would see him outside of school, waiting for her. She would leave the school via a different entrance. Or meet Reggie, and he would take her home. Betty knew Reggie would protect her. But she still never told him about Jason hitting her. She didn't want Reggie to get hurt or in trouble for beating Jason up. Betty did develop a bruise on her face, but she explained it away as a gym accident to her folks and her friends. They all believed her. Their Betty wouldn’t lie. Betty just couldn’t tell anyone about this. Betty felt shame. Everyone had told her Jason was bad news. She knew they were right. But she couldn’t let anyone know the truth about him. So Betty suffered in silence, because she felt ashamed that she was in this predicament. She would find a way to fix it herself. She spent a lot of time avoiding him, or just running from him when she saw him. He had to get the message and leave her alone, right?
