The desk rattled as Lex Luthor angrily slammed is fist down.
"Superman just wrecked my new battlesuit...again! That damn alien has cost me millions! If only there were some way to be rid of him." He said aloud to himself.
"Mr. Luthor, Professor Grady is here to see you," a woman's voice said from the nearby intercom.
"Send him in, Mercy."
"Yes sir," replied his henchwoman.
Luthor tried to compose himself as best he could.
The large oak door to the office opened, and a short, older man entered. He was carrying a stainless steel briefcase at his side.
"This had better be good, Grady." Luthor snarled.
"I think you'll be quite pleased with this, Mr. Luthor." Grady said as he placed the briefcase on the desk. "Your workers uncovered it yesterday at the foot of a mountain in Colorado. When I heard what it was, I had them ship it to me over night."
The professor then opened the briefcase. Inside was what looked like a small rock at first. Lex noticed that a faint green light was coming off of it.
"This...this is..." Lex stammered.
"Yes, its kryptonite, sir."
Luthor smiled.
"Do you have any idea what this is? I've been waiting and longing for this. This is the instrument that will finally bring down Superman once and for all."
Lex thought to himself for a moment.
"No, killing him is not enough. I want to break him. To humiliate him in front of the entire world. I want to show everyone that I can bring down a god."
A plan began taking shape in Luthor's mind. Superman would be taken down in an unusual way. A way that would shame him. Afterward he would have no choice but to join Luthor and do his bidding. He would have his very own super-powered pawn. If he refused, then Lex would just have one less thorn in his side to worry about.
