Walking on Air

Archive: Just ask.
Warning: Twincest!

It was just one of those things. The type of thing you knew deep inside, even when there was absolutely no proof. For Tommy those types of things always came to visit at the most inopportune moments.

It was one such moment, that teasing Billy about his theory didn't seem as much fun. The moment came when he couldn't simply let it go.

Because with the right tilt of his head, in the right light, with just the right mood, Tommy could have sworn he was having an out of body experience. Watching himself move, hearing his voice speak, and those same piercing eyes, glinting just right to match the mischievous twist of his mouth.

"Are you all right, Tommy?" Kate asks.

"Huh? What? Yeah. Fine."

"You were staring at Billy," Teddy adds, and it sounds like accusal.

"I was not!"

"Guys," says Eli. He's tired enough, and Tommy lets it go, because he's not quite sure just what happened. And Billy's looking at him like he knows, and Tommy just goes quiet and tries not to flee toward him.

It was the little things that made him twitch. The type of things you didn't notice until you were all cramped together in an underground bunker, trying not to run one another over and doing your best to keep sane.

Waking up at midnight and wandering into the kitchen to get something to eat and running into Billy. Billy who is propped up against the counter in the exact same pair of boxers, and a similar cut of tank. Billy who is eating pancakes stacked on top of one another with cinnamon sugar and maple syrup layers, with a puff of whip cream at the top.

And Tommy can't help but stare again.

Billy just smiles and offers to share.

The moment when things just get creepy. Answering a question with the exact same answer, even missions apart. Kate amusing herself with coming up with new, interesting ways to interrogate, and testing out her own theories. Waiting to prove what Tommy doesn't need proven. What Billy surely doesn't.

All he has to do is give in.

Give in and accept that he is no longer alone.

That he is a part of something deeper.

But it?s scary, and would uproot every last thing Tommy thought he knew for certain about himself. So he refrains, and tries to think differently.

It?s another such moment, after a mission, in the locker room. Tommy's stripped before his teammate, wanting to get in and out as fast as he can. Never quite makes it beneath the spray.

Billy looks over his shoulder, eyes curious as Tommy's hands pin him by the shoulders, chest against the metal.

?You have a freckle there,? Tommy says in awe, pressing his index finger to it with all the care of one touching a priceless work of art.

?I?ve always had that.?

Tommy's hands are shaking as he lets go and turns around. Fingertips barely brush his skin a moment later. Disbelieving, awed, hungry. Like his own.

Billy gasps as he?s shoved up against the lockers, the rest of his uniform stripped from his body in a matter of seconds. ?Tommy,? he says, and his voice is heavy and trembling. Tommy's too busy spreading his legs. Brushes his fingers against the inner curve of Billy's thigh.

Billy squeaks and shifts away. Tommy grins, even while his heart is racing. ?You?re ticklish there.?

The muscles are jumping in Billy's abdomen. He reaches out, and Tommy widens his stance, makes himself vulnerable. Fingertips slide across his skin inquisitively, and he vibrates with a shy little shimmy.

There are lights dancing in Billy's eyes. ?What about here?? he asks, sinking to his knees and sliding his hand up the back of Tommy's calf, dipping up behind his knee. Tommy's head drops back with a moan. ?Huh,? says Billy, stroking him there almost absently. ?Teddy said I was probably the only one in the whole world who got off on this spot.?

Tommy's hands find their way to Billy's shoulders, knees slowly drawing him into a sink. Touching the cold floor until they?re level again. He leans in, tilting his head and brushing his lips high against Billy's throat. ?What about here?? he asks huskily, and gives a soft suck. Billy trembles. Tommy has the oddest desire to make him shake until he comes apart in his hands.

He moans as Billy's hand sweeps softly along his nape. Arches as hands slide down his spine. His own sweep back and start an ascension. Billy shivers against him as he flicks his tongue in quick little swipes over his pulse, which is quickly rising to match his own. Tommy's racing on ahead, until he?s on his feet, and Billy's wrapped about him. Between one heartbeat and the next they?re across the room. Under the spray. Moving and touching and knowing. Knowing in ways they just couldn't know unless it was true. Unless they really were?

?Fuck, Tom-!? Billy chokes, head whipping back to be assaulted by the spray. Tommy quickly turns them around to protect him. Feels it swell in his chest. A strange, but oddly familiar feeling. Holds him close as he comes apart against his body. Vibrating faster as Billy cries out against him. On and on until he?s coming too, and it?s too fast, and it?s too new, and it?s not strange at all.

Billy strokes back his hair as he calms against him. ?Better?? he asks softly. Tommy looks up and meets his eyes. Billy's hair is slick and curling at the base of his head. Hiding his eyes in long dark strands that Tommy sweeps away, even as Billy mirrors the motion in silver strands. Leans his forehead to his twin?s. Lashes brushing, almost touching as they look into one another for a long moment. ?Do you believe now??

?Yes,? he answers.

?Good.? His arms draw him close, and Tommy steadies their balance as Billy tangles their legs. ?I was getting tired of waiting.?

It takes a moment for Tommy to catch the jibe, but then he laughs. Billy smiles and even though it should be impossible, draws him in further.

And Tommy realizes it isn't impossible. It never was, and it never will be.

After all, it was just one of those things.

One of those twin things.
